About the Project
Lots of planets have a North seeks to explore the North of England as it is imagined, lived, dreamed of. Tired and bored of totalising accounts of a solitary man on a mission to uncover ‘the North’, this is a communal project, made up of fragments, situated accounts, stories, pictures, imaginings. We are interested in the stuff that gets missed out of the bricks and smoke, brass band, Hovis advert-style North of popular representation (although we have nothing against red brick, or smoke, or brass bands).
The project will initially manifest itself as a blog, followed by a publication drawing on/expanding on/linking together content from the blog. The publication may be followed by other things: We would like a conversation, and we’re not so concerned about drawing rushed conclusions.
